1312 – the Black Knight

Based on a sketch on page 121-122 of Ewart Oakeshotts ‘Records of the Medieval Sword’, though with a slightly longer and more ornately finished handle and a single central fuller (the original is double fullered), the Black Knight’s unique jet black blade and fittings are created by a process known as ‘blueing’.

This sword is extremely fast in the hand and tough, and you can see my friend Jason from Arms of Valor put it through its paces on his review site here

Aside from being a great sword in its own right, it is visually one of Darkswords most striking pieces to date (and a blade that certainly fits their namesake!). The only issue is that it is not recommended that the black blade version of this sword be sharpened or used excessively for steel on steel contact in order to keep the pristine black blade in the best condition possible (it is of course also available with a standard steel blade pictured below, which is the best choice if you wish to apply the sharpening option or go steel on steel).
