COPPER MEKUGI

On the advice of a senior member of the JSA (Japanese Sword Arts) ALL Cheness Cutlery swords (including iaito) now come not only double pegged to the handle for safety, but the second mekugi pin in made from solid copper, acting as a secondary anchor if the handle experiences a shockwave.

Cheness Cutlery are to my knowledge the ONLY company that currently makes swords in this price range with this additional feature.

Cheness Swords

For the last few years, Cheness Cutlery have been supplying a range of very sturdy hand forged Japanese swords designed to be the most economical entry level katana for cutting practice and iaido.

The full tang, solidly made blades themselves are head and shoulders above the reasonably plain (but reinforced) fittings they are mounted on, with excellent feedback on the 9260 Spring Steel range of monotempered cutting blades and the more traditional Kaze Katana.

They also produce a range of excellent quality non-sharpened iaito made from real carbon steel. While extremely popular in dojo all across the world, it is always best to check with your sensei to make sure that any swords you bring to class are authorized.

Cheness Cutlery 9260 monotempered Dojo Katana

Some of the toughest blades around, made of 9260 Spring Steel and monotempered for extra durability.

Cheness Cutlerys other steel range of Katana

Includes more economical, but still very reliable blades made from 1060 and 1045 spring steel, and the Kaze Katana (which, while made from 9260 spring steel, has a real hamon and thus can't be included with the monotempered 9260 swords)

Cheness Cutleries range of non sharpened carbon steel practice swords

Economical, but high quality Non-sharpened Katana and Wakizashi blades for iaido (sword drawing and safer kata training) practices.
