Although DSA dubbed this model the "Crecy War Sword" (1346), it is actually based on an earlier sword found on page 48 (plate Xa.13) of Oakeshott's "Record of the Medieval Sword".

Oakshotts sword is Type Xa, dated to 1100AD with a much longer 37.75" blade, but this one is called the Crecy because shorter versions were believed to have been used by archers during the battle of Crecy.
