Unlike zinc-alloy Iaito (which are made only due to restrictions on production of steel swords in Japan), the hand forged Cheness Carbon Steel Iaito has the weight and balance of a real Katana - at less than 1/2 the price of its closest zinc-alloy competitors! Hand forged, hand polished, full length nakago (tang) and double mekugi (retaining pins) this sword is perfect for the iaido or kenjutsu student on a budget and can also be used for stage and film purposes.
With a bo-hi (fuller) as standard, the blade is lightweight and maneuverable and has a very loud and impressive Tachi-Kaze ('Sword-Wind-Sound') when swung at the ideal trajectory, making it an invaluable training tool to develop accurate and fast techniques.
Though blunted to reduce the risk of injuries (except for the kissaki tip, which is traditionally sharpened), iaito can still be dangerous and should be handled with the respect due to a live blade.
