The Castile - Signature Model
IN STOCK: FREE SHIPPING IN THE USA

The Castile is a classic Oakeshott Type XII (twelve) 1060 carbon steel blade with an early medieval Spanish flair.

This type of blade that was commonly used on the battlefield in the late 10th century to the early 13th century, and is a dedicated arming sword that specializes in the cut - but has a servicable point for thrusting.

While the Valiant Armoury Castile is not an exact copy of any specific historical example, it is hilted in a style that is reminiscent of a historical blade that was found in the tomb of King Sancho IV from Castile, Toledo (as seen on page 72 of Ewart Oakeshotts Records of the Medieval Sword).

With a blade designed by Angus Trim and fittings by the Renowned Christian Fletcher, the Castile from the much anticipated Signature Collection is available in two variants depending on your budget and your taste:

1) The base model, with a black leather covered, wood-lined scabbard and black leather grip OR

2) The ornate brown leather, embossed Christian Fletcher design with a much more substantial brown leather corded grip and intricate leather belt.

In both cases, the blade is the same – a sharpened, 1060 high carbon steel blade beautifully tempered and ready to cut right out of the box.
