All too often the more ornate and affordable Japanese sword and blade designs out there are let down by stainless steel (read: purely decorative) blades. But these are no mere ornaments..

While all the blades the Ryujin Art Sword series are primarily designed for display purpose, they all use well tempered carbon or spring steel in the blades - and make an excellent canvas for further refinement and customization, or are perfect as they are - an ornament with an icy and very real bite..

In this case, the product in question is a substantial (20" overall) O-Tanto with Shobu Zukuri geometry. The blade is monotempered 65mn Spring Steel and is adorned with a blued wild flame style faux-hamon pattern and mounted in an attractive silver speckled white saya depicting a wolf with blood stained fangs standing victorious over its prey.

Quite substantial, it is as initiating as it is beautiful - weighing 1.3lbs when drawn from the sheathe and balanced close to the hilt (POB 2 1/2 ") while it is primarily for decoration the blade leverages the best in modern metallurgy and is easily worth the price of entry just by itself..

How to Use

Primarily designed for display, but has a functional monotempered 65mn Spring Steel blade so can be used for light backyard cutting. Serious practitioners should consider rebuilding the handle to something sturdier as the base model design's handle uses inexpensive materials in its construction.
Overall length: 20", Blade length: 13 3/4", Handle length: 6", Weight: 1.3 lbs, P.O.B: 2 1/2 " from tsuba
