Reverse blade, one off version of the Thai Daab of Charn Chai.
This was a customized version of the Scorpion Swords Thai Daab of Charn Chai that requested the bevel on the otherside that usual (but the instructions were misunderstood). A new one was made, and this unique one off is now available at a steep discount. Can be ordered with a leather sheathe but as it will need to be custom made, please allow for extra time if the sheathe option is ordered.
Developed from an agricultural hand tool and evolved from hostile contact with early proto-Chinese civilizations over 2000 years ago, the Thai Daab and its regional variants have a long, battle tested history. With a long handle and relatively short blade, these versatile blades can be used either one handed, two handed or dual wielded with a wide range of high speed techniques based around its low point of rotation and is still very much a part of the traditional martial arts and culture of Thailand, but also similar swords are found throughout Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
This almost indestructible 'Charn Chai' (which translates as 'good at fighting') Daab by Scorpion Swords is a fitting tribute to these ancient and highly effective cutting, hacking and slashing swords.
The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.
Truly FULL tang, the Bloodwood handle is affixed in place with hidden pins and gorilla glue resulting in the strongest handle construction possible. Combined with the tough blade and you have a sword with no weak points that maximizes its durability (and also includes a deer leather wrap for extra style and comfort).
Unlike most other swords at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade in our shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 6-8 weeks for completion and delivery.
