Amazing Value - Solid entry level blade in high quality natural wood Shirasaya fittings with a hand carved 'Double Dragon' themed saya. Only around a dozen available, once sold out - they are gone for good.
An amazing deal from Ryujin - this is a monotempered 1045 carbon steel blade mounted in high quality Shirasaya (white scabbard, i.e. wood scabbard).
The blade is the most common type and geometry, Shinogi Zukuri, and features a full length bo-hi (fuller) well tempered blade weighing in at 2.1lbs.
While we generally do not recommend Shirasaya swords for cutting out of the box by inexperienced sword enthusiasts (as without a hand guard,there is a slight danger of the hand slipping onto the blade) this sword is perfect as a display piece, as the foundation for a DIY remounting project (it can be stripped down and has one mekugi peg like a traditional katana), or just a relatively inexpensive, but real carbon steel blade that you can use to experiment on - testing sword sharpening techniques and polishing before attempting it on a more expensive blade.
Of course, the other main point of interest is the hand carved saya which depicts two Dragons facing each other and a Fire orb being passed between them making it far more visually appealing than most other Shirasaya.
Only around a dozen remain and once sold out, this line will be discontinued. So get them at this final closeout price while you can.
