Updated for the 21st century - the Hoshu Broadsword represents a seamless fusion between high technology and ancient, time tested personal weaponry in the form of the medieval Oakeshott Type XVII (with a few modern tweaks) - what was the most common, time tested blade profile of the classic medieval period. But as noted by senior SBG reviewer nDave "seems like it would be better seen strapped to the back of a motorcycle riding post-apocalyptic warrior."

The 33.75" blade is made from expertly tempered, paper cutting sharp mirror polished 1060 carbon steel and is perfectly fitted into the low maintenance stainless steel hand guard that flows into a dismountable, ergonomic TPR (Thermal Plastic Rubber) handle for the perfect grip. Add to this a surprisingly good wood core, painted matt finished scabbard and while it may not appeal to those seeking a historically accurate sword (though, being dismountable, makes an EXCELLENT base for a custom sword project) is, as noted in the review:

"For the price point I don't think you'll find a better sword of this design. If you have been looking for a tactical or fantasy styled European sword, this is the sword for you."

Here is the official blurb from the manufacturer:

The Honshu Broadsword represents a modern spin on a proven, time-tested sword design with sleek, rugged tactical engineering and perfect blade-to-hilt balancing. It has a razor-sharp, 33 3/8” 1060 high carbon steel blade that has a partial blood groove, which leads up to the hefty traditional handguard. The rugged TPR hilt gives you a no-slip grip and both handguard and pommel are satin-finished stainless steel. The 43 1/2" overall length broadsword fits securely in a black wooden scabbard that includes a leather belt hanger. Honshu continues to expand its exceptional sword line and this sleek, tactical broadsword is a must-have for your collection!

Whichever way you look at it, for the price this is a high quality, robust blade in modern tactical style fittings with a high intimidation factor - zombies beware! MSRP $346 - our price, just $199.99.

Tough enough to obliterate a cinderblock!

Great Buy 01/16/2021
This sword is an awesome purchase, you get much more than what you pay for. The blade is beautiful and has a near mirror finish. The scabbard is also very well made and holds the blade tightly. The grip offers a lasting, no slip surface and feels well made and tactical. The metal fittings are good looking and adequately compliment the look. Overall this is more than just a tactical piece, it is a great blade that means business when needed.

My suggestion... buy it and start or add it to the collection.
