The Ronin Katana Elite Sword # 2 is a one of a kind design: Black Glossy Saya, Brown ito over black rayskin and the solid work hardened copper tsuba (hand guard) and kashira (butt cap) with an Tiger themed design.

This Ronin Elite katana has been traditionally forged and laminated in the soshu kitae tradition (seven panel steel). This school was developed by the legendary Japanese smith Masamune, and combines panels of hard, medium, and soft steels. The core of the blade is formed from softer, more malleable steel giving it exceptional flexibility. A layer of slightly harder steel is bonded to each side of the core to add support. The last layers are a very hard steel bonded to the top, bottom, and both sides of the core forming the ha (cutting edge) mune (back edge) and shinogi-ji (blade flats).

Laminations

Soshu Kitae Lamination - far right. It is by far the most complex and desirable lamination technique.

This form of laminar construction provided for a sword that could be sharpened to a razor edge due to the hardened steed used for the ha, but was extremely resilient to battle damage due to its softer more flexible core (1045 carbon steel with 1060 surrounding it and 1095 on the sides and as the cutting edge of the blade).

The sword is complimented by premium fittings with real rayskin, silk ito, buffalo horn inserts on high gloss saya (sheathe) and highest quality fittings assembled by the most experienced workers at the forge.

About the Ronin Katana Elite Line

Traditionally forged katana using advanced Japanese lamination methods developed by legendary masters such as Masamune. The elite line features blades in the Gomai, Shihozume, and Soshu kitae styles and Dotanuki school. These are among the most advanced lamination methods the Japanese produced, with Shihozume and Soshu kitae being the most rare. Each blade is hand forged by a Master Smith who has obtained at least two of the three government awarded ranks. Ronin Katana is the largest dealer of complex laminated blades in the world, and offers more Soshu Kitae katana for sale than all other dealers combined.

The elites are one of a kind samurai swords. This line is only forged once per year. Each katana offered is an in stock sword and are not pre-sale items.
