The classic highland "Claymore", actually known as the claidheamh mòr is the distinctive two handed sword exclusive to the Scottish highlands from the 15th to the 17th centuries. Frequently in use between the clan wars and border skirmishes with the English, it was longer than most other swords of the era and easily identifiable by its unique forward facing cross guard terminating in a quatrefoil spatulate pattern.
