Made by Master Ye "Michael" Jie, a certified rank 1 master smith recognized and smithing swords at his family forge in the ancient city of Longquan, Zhejiang province - this sword is a replica of an early Qing Dynasty blade (1644-1912).
Hand forged from 1095 carbon steel, it is folded to produce a beautiful Damascus pattern, then clayed and differentially hardened on both sides and finally sharpened and polished to bring out the rich details of the interplay between the folded steel and double temper line. The combination of the differentially hardened edges, diamond cross section profile and wide blade which runs parallel before abruptly terminating in a wickedly sharp pointed tip gives it outstanding cutting ability and a reinforced thrust for maximum versatility.
A true hand and a half sword with a 30" blade weighing 2.64lbs and with a point of balance around 4" from the crossguard, it is light and well balanced enough to be used with one hand but truly comes alive when a second hand is brought into play - fast in the hand and very responsive.
The fittings are cast from brass and hand finished, with real silver and gold gilding depicting a Tiger head centrally positioned at the cross guard and terminating with two silver and gold colored serpents from which protrudes a long silk tassel. The scabbard is made from premium quality Black ebony wood, with Dragon and carp themed fittings and a simple cord suspension system for hanging on the wall or to tie into a belt when worn.
Do not be fooled by cheap and nasty imitations, this sword is the real deal. Almost never seen out of China due to the uncertain market demand and high expense of production. However, with Forge Direct, you have a rare opportunity to order one of your own with FREE worldwide shipping right here at the SBG Sword Store!
