The blade is forged from folded 1095 carbon steel and then differentially hardened, resulting in a harder edge and softer spine to combine yin and yang to create a sword that is both hard yet also flexible enough not to break or shatter when contacting a demanding target. It is then mounted in ornate fittings over a black ebony wood base.
The brass fittings, cast and then hand finished depict writhen Dragons - the entire assembly studded with 83 semi-precious stones of Red and Green Jade, all colors combining to form a visually stunning masterpiece. But this is not just a show pony..
Indeed, weighing in at 3.3lbs with a somewhat tip heavy blade, it is best wielded with two hands, the 11" handle providing enough room and in many ways is closer to a Katana than single handed Dao - delivering incredibly powerful shearing cuts and fight stopping thrusts.
With a folded 1095 carbon steel blade and attractive cast and hand finished fittings over black ebony wood it is both attractive and eminently functional, balanced 3.93" from the guard and weighing in at just 1.87lbs - making it fast and responsive as any good fighting Dao should be.
