Is it an axe? A sword? Seems the name 'chopper' fits best and its in the 'Axe' section as it is more brutal than refined. Made famous by its depiction in the Maciejowski family bible suggested it was real, but to date there have been no surviving examples.
Back by popular demand! No known historical name exists for this unique sword! It appears in the Maciejowski Bible, an illustrated Medieval manuscript that depicts Bible stories, but with Medieval European clothing and weapons. This weapon also appears in other manuscripts from the period. Our version can be seen on plate 21 entitled The Rescue of Lot.
The single-edge blade is broad and flat while the two-handed grip provides a tremendous amount of leverage, generating a large amount of force. Hand forged of high-carbon steel by Windlass Steelcrafts with wooden scales on the grip and antiqued copper fittings. This single-edged chopper has a full profile tang hand forged of 1075 high carbon steel.
Factory sharpened edge and oh, so much fun..
