I recently purchased the Waning Moon Yataghan Sword. I am very pleased with the balance and feel of it.
I needed an entire evening with a fine mill file and a diamond lap to establish the edge to my satisfaction. Having done so I am very impressed with the ability of the steel in this sword to take a very sharp edge.
I have not decided if I will re-shape the hilt or I will replace the hilt with elk horn or something of a similar nature.
This blade is hell for sturdy and it seems to lend itself to the kinds of improvements I have in mind for it.
The scabbard is very practical and weather resistant, but I may want to make a wood core leather sheath for it in the future. I feel the blade is good enough to justify some serious custom work on my part to make it my own thing.
