The modern machete has devolved quite a lot since its hay day, when such brands as Collins were famous throughout the Southern States of America, Latin America and the Caribbean. Back then, machete were made with pride from only the toughest, impact steels with an optimized shape. Now? The vast majority are just punched out from a layer of flat 1045 carbon steel of uniform thickness with no primary grind and a rough edge. However, with the Doomsday Machete we see a return to the best practices of the finest machete makers from the past - just in time for an uncertain future..

Both a tool and a weapon, there are few modern blades as versatile as a Machete. As a tool, it can be used for cutting through dense undergrowth, chopping and sawing wood and even butchering meat in a pinch. As a weapon, it's heritage points back to the European Falchion, a simple cutting and chopping blade that was easy and instinctive to use without specialized training.

The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.

Unlike most other swords at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade in our shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 6-8 weeks for completion and delivery.
