An iconic blade since the late 1990s, the Hanwei Practical Plus Tanto has stood the test of time and is still great value some 3+ decades later.. Part of the Practical Plus Series of their second tier of revolutionary functional swords, the blade is hand-forged at Hanwei of 1566 high-carbon steel and differentially hardened using a traditional claying method (HRC 60 edge, HRC 40 spine).
The enhanced yet genuine temper line (hamon) is evident and very prominent. The flat black saya features a black cotton sageo. The tsuka has genuine ray skin (same) with a black synthetic leather tsuka-ito for better gripping qualities. The antiqued fittings on this set are decorated in a Japanese dogwood motif with a beautiful antiqued black sunburst tsuba.
All in all, still one of the best value for money quality Tanto on the market.

Suitable for backyard cutting and/or as a display piece to complete a Samurai Daisho Set (a Tanto and a Katana is considered to be a Daisho just as much as a Katana and a Wakizashi)
