Folded, Damascus Steel bearded Viking Hand Axe, includes leather blade sheathe.
The so called 'Vikings' of 9th to 11th century Scandanavia may have been fearsome coastal raiders, but they were also very skilled metallurgists and blacksmiths. From unique pattern welding to folding techniques, impurities in the steel were evened out - with the end result being both very practical yet also incredibly ornate and beautiful.
This replica 10th century Bearded Axe is a tribute to their craftsmanship - with a keen edged folded blade that not only looks great but is practical around the camp fire, in the outdoors or on a Viking raid as the case may be! With a protruding 'beard' the axe crescent is extended without adding unnecessary extra weight and can also be used to hook and grapple an opponents shield or can be chocked up for whittling and precision handling.
Comes complete with a protective leather sheathe.
