Designed by Jason Woodard, the 10th sword in the Doomsday Series is inspired by stout Type 8 Geibig Typology swords. Individually Hand Made by Chris Palmer in the USA. Please allow 5-6 weeks for production and delivery.
An original design by esteemed sword tester and sword designer Jason Woodard and the tenth sword in his exclusive Doomsday Line - Sword #10 in the collection is inspired by the legendary Alfred Geibig Type 8 blade, it embodies the spirit of the Norse warriors. Whether for display, reenactment, or collection, this sword is a testament to the Viking Age.
While it is a contemporary build and not intended to be historically accurate, it draws on actual historical Viking swords for its design elements. The Wheeler Type AE crossguard showcases a straight horizontal design, with its minimalist elegance reflecting the Viking aesthetic and a 'Brazil nut' style pommel.
Devastating to other blades or melee weapons that dare to cross it's path, it is essentially of one piece construction, with the Black Micarta handle sandwiching the full width tang and secured in place with both large and small pins and a generous application of epoxy, ensuring it has no weak points.
The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.
Unlike most other swords at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade in our shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 6-8 weeks for completion and delivery.
