Kingston Arms Black Swept Hilt Rapier
IN STOCK
Fully functional 17th century rapier replica with Black Titanium coated stainless steel guard.. MSRP $399.00
Our Renaissance-style rapiers trace their origins to early 17th century Europe, where swordplay with the rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman’s education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. Blades generally originated in one of the blade making centers such as Toledo or Solingen, but many differences in styling and hilt materials resulted from the local manufacture of hilts all over Europe.
The Kingston Arms Rapier features improvements on the guard design where it joins the blade for more strength and reenforcement for the thrusts. Our black titanium coated stainless steel guard and pommel are matte finished. The brown cord wrapped grip is comfortable in the hand and leaves enough space to wear fencing gloves if desired. To reduce the packaging size, the Kingston Arms Rapier comes unassembled and includes a metric wrench to tighten down the pommel and grip.

The good folks at the SBG recently helped me acquire this beauty and my lifelong dream of owning a battle-ready rapier is complete!
This sword is elegant and deadly. The factory edge and point is more than serviceable for putting away rude gentlemen who don't like your tricorn.
The hilt construction is simple and functional. For extended practice, I use gloves but it can be safely grasped bare-handed for a few thrusts/cuts.
Assembly is simple and sturdy. If you wish an even more robust an non-reversible construction, I recommend a little Loctite on the threads which attach the pommel.
My only suggestions on future models might be to reduce the length of the handle even a bit further to allow the pommel to seat better in the hand while still being able to reach your finger into the finger-ring (would probably drive a review of the POB though so perhaps not feasible).
The sheath is also very simple in construction and tends to rattle a bit (probably for scaring away dandy's who might be ogling your mistresses ankles at the local ball).
Great stuff from Kingston and the SBG team.
