The Sgian Dubh (pronounced "skee(a)n doo") is a ceremonial dagger (Gaelic sgian) worn as part of the modern Scottish Highland dress along with the kilt. It is worn tucked into the hose with only the pommel visible. The name comes from the Gaelic meaning "black knife," where "black" may refer to the usual colour of the handle of the knife. It is also suggested that "black" means secret, or hidden, as in the word blackmail. This Generation 2 / Legacy Arms version is based on the stories and theories surrounding the knife's origin and the meaning of "Dubh" in Gaelic.
Legacy Arms has made one that is simple in design and fits perfectly in your hose (or sock). The handle is made from an iron wood and features a tempered blade with a full tang peened at the top of the handle.
ABOUT LEGACY ARMS
Legacy Arms, formerly known as Generation 2, still leads the way in the affordable sword market creating tough, well made items for the Medieval Sword enthusiast. All blades are selectively tempered 5160 steel with a robust apple-seed edge. The tempering is designed to provide a harder edge and softer, shock resistant core so that the sword will bend or deform rather than break in the heat of combat and is faithful to many historical examples.
The hilt construction is typically in steel (passing the magnet test) unless otherwise noted and the grips are leather over wood. The tangs are peened over the pommel the traditional way for maximum overall strength. The fit and finish of these swords from Legacy Arms is quite impressive, and would be at twice the price!
Originally made in the Philippines, the new line is made in larger quantities with higher quality control and better tempering without an increase in price. Amazing Value.

Beautiful little razor

Bought on a whim, was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fit/finish and the overall aesthetic.
Note, this arrived to my door RAZOR sharp; handle with care!
An especially nice feature is the wooden handle/sheath. The polished clear lacquer and natural grain pattern makes the knife attractive and the fit into the sheath is secure.
