Sora no Kiri (Void Cutter) Specialized Tameshigiri Cutting Katana
Over the years, several wide-bladed and relatively thin-profiled Katanas have been designed to not just cut but literally sail through multiple tatami mats like a hot knife through butter. Blades like the Cheness Cutlery SGC (Specialize Goza Cutter) and the Hataya Kotetsu were renowned for their power but are either no longer in production or come with a hefty price tag. But now, we're excited to offer you a new option that combines affordability with performance.
Introducing the Sora no Kiri (Void Cutter), the follow-up to our flagship model, brought to you exclusively by Swordier in collaboration with Longquan-based sword production experts. This robust yet affordable sword is well-balanced, lightweight, and fast enough for kata and formwork, but truly excels in tameshigiri cutting. Whether it's tatami mats, rolled-up wet newspapers on bamboo, thick green bamboo, or water-filled bottles, this Katana’s broad but narrow profiled edge dramatically reduces friction, allowing it to effortlessly sail through at least four mats with a single slice, even for someone with zero training.
New Features:
- Handling: The blade is slightly heavier but it's point of balance closer to the tsuba than the Flagshipmodel. Both are surprisingly lightweight considering their width...
-
Black Handle: Now featuring a sleek black handle wrapped in black rayskin, providing both style and grip.
-
Blade Options: Choose between a clean blade with no hamon or a blade with a fake hamon for a more traditional look (also available on the Flagship 'Kazekiri').
Whether you plan to dominate competition cutting or enjoy effortless backyard cutting, the Sora no Kiri has you covered. The blade is crafted from durable, monotempered 65mn Spring steel and complemented by an unique triangular sharped tsuba, brass fuchigashira, alternating cotton ito wrapped using hishigami triangles over real rayskin, and a black lacquered wooden saya with black sageo.
THE COOL STEEL TSUBA
If you are serious about cutting and want to experience the feeling of "did I actually just cut that?" with a blade that sails through targets with minimal impact, this is the sword for you.
WARNING: These Blades are going to feel sharper and cut easier than pretty much any Katana you have encountered before. Please exercise extreme caution at all times.
