Dragon King Savior Katana
Differentially Hardened T10 Tool Steel Blade with Prominent, Real Hamon. MSRP $949.00
The Savior Katana by Dragon King embodies the power of the Kami (guardian spirit) throughout the entire motif. From the fuchi-kashira, menuki, fuchia and to the tsuba, our artisans convey this ancient theme beautifully without being gaudy or pretentious. The silver sword menuki compliments the white same (ray skin) and black cotton tsuka-ito (handle wrap) and the notched silver seppa (spacers). The forged T10 steel blade features true clay-tempering that produces a distinctive hamon (temper line).
The traditional polish brings out the real hamon and a mirror shinogi-ji (flat section). The HRC 60 edge and HRC 40 back are ideal for cutting if you wish to put it to the test. The blade rests in a deep blue saya (scabbard) with a buffalo horn kurikata (knob) contrasted by the white, yellow and blue sageo (cord)*. When you grip the Savior Katana in your hands, you become one with the musubi as the katana becomes an extension of your soul.
* In 2020 the white, yellow and blue sageo has been changed to all black but is not yet reflected in the pictures.
About Dragon King
The famed artisans of Dalian have returned to show to the sword world what quality, craftsmanship and ingenuity can produce under the superlative leadership of a true avant-gardist. By the guidance of master designer, Frenchie Jin, the next generation of cutlery enthusiasts will taste the steel of the fabled golden age of swords.
Ever the student of the arts, Frenchie Jin combined the processes of contemporary mechanical construction and modern science with the classic arts, ancient aesthetics and philosophical imagery to produce many of the legendary pieces known today. Having designed over 600 different cold weapons in his 20-year career, to say that he and his team have mastered and advanced their craft would be an understatement.
The Dragon King brand does not represent a company that just manufactures products but embodies a group of artisans who have been adeptly trained to duplicate ancient skillsets that can't be automated by machines on an assembly line. Not every blade that is forged becomes a sword. Not every casting that is poured becomes a component of a greater piece. The goal for improvement and innovation starts every day under Frenchie's guidance.
Not confining their talents to sword making alone, the Dragon King team plies their abilities also to the production of knives, jewelry and other high end art-crafts. And not just in steel alone, these artisans craft wood and leather among many other materials and alloys. Our journey together has only begun, but the fruits of that labor are coming to bear.

Bought this from the SBG. Tsuka-ito is very tight. A little rattle when shaken but can be fixed easily. The Katana came sharp, but I feel it can be a little sharper. Kashira and Tsuba details are great. All the hardware is of very good quality. The sword cuts very well too. Although it is a little heavier than my Dragon King Ogami Itto Katana - Lone Wolf and Cub, it does feel less tip-heavy. Maybe because it is a longer blade with the same POB at 5" as the Ogami Itto Katana. This makes it more wieldable. Overall, although it has its slight imperfection, it is still an incredibly good sword.
One important person to mention is the customer service from SBG Senior Support Officer, Sara Jennings. Since I am buying this sword from outside of the US, Sara had been incredibly helpful in my purchase. Thank you, Sara, for the incredible customer support. Appreciate your dedication.
