Ultra Durable, fully functional Egyptian Khopesh. Individually Hand Made by Chris Palmer in the USA. Please allow 5-6 weeks for production and delivery.
The Khopesh is an ancient sickle like sword design derived from a battle axe that was originally used against the Egyptians by the Canaanites nearly 5,000 years ago. It so impressed them with its cutting effectiveness that after defeating the Canaanites, the ancient Egyptians adopted it as their own, the Khopesh eventually becoming the very symbol of the Pharaohs authority.
Falling out of favor around 1300 BC - the Scorpion Swords version brings this ancient design screaming into the 21st century with modern crucible steel instead of Bronze, but is otherwise faithful to the original design and style.
The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.
Truly FULL tang, the Zebra wood handle is affixed in place with hidden pins and gorilla glue resulting in the strongest handle construction possible. Combined with the tough blade and you have a sword with no weak points that maximizes its durability.
Unlike most other swords at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade in our shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 6-8 weeks for completion and delivery.
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
Being a long time student of Egyptology I must say Mr. Palmer has captured the Khopesh sword with striking accuracy. This man is an artist in the true sense. This Khopesh is more than a sword but an actual work of art. Mr Palmer uses steel, rather than paint and canvas to create his masterpieces. Those of of you interested in edged weapons such as I am, your search ends with Chris Palmer he will do more than meet your desires. As for my Khopesh I'm sure it would make Ramses II proud to own. Ted Bej, proud owner of the fine work of Mr. Chris Palmer.
PS. Thanks for the kick ass edge.
