Based on the sword that conquered the old world, the Scorpion Swords Tactical Gladius is based on the straight bladed Pompeii Gladius brought screaming into the 21st century. Equally at home cutting as it is thrusting, the short blade allows it to be used in a variety of environments and is extremely versatile, durable and has a high intimidation factor (think 'you call that a knife? THIS is a knife!')...

The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.

Truly FULL tang, the Black Linen Mircarta handle is affixed in place with hidden and visible pins and gorilla glue resulting in the strongest handle construction possible. Combined with the tough blade and you have a sword with no weak points that maximizes its durability.

Unlike most other swords at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade in our shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 6-8 weeks for completion and delivery.

Scorpion Tactical Gladius 10/24/2021
By Dave Knutsen
So my son finally received this blade after the waiting time and man was I ever surprised when he handed it over to me as a wonderfully late birthday present. This gladius is insane. It is a rough and tumble blade that looks and feels totally bad ass, and it's sharper than my wifes tongue. The blued finish and cool grind lines on the bevel set this thing apart. Historically accurate? Who knows what was made through the 1100 years of the Roman Republic and Empire. Thank Tor Chris is making it now. There are many gladius swords out there and I have a few, but this one is, by far, my favourite. I have hacked a solid oak chair to pieces with this thing and after a few strokes with a ceramic stone it was up and growling for more. You don't have to baby this sword. Keep it lightly oiled and you're good to go. The heat treat seems to be pretty solid as there was no damage after the chair hacking. Just some dulling in the strike zone of the blade. I recommend getting the sheath. This thing will cut you or anything else if you leave it sitting against a wall or whatever. The sheath does its job but I'm having a custom sheath made for this one. Highly recommend if you're looking for a tough, grass roots weapon. As an addendum, if you're having this thing shipped to Canada, the border services agency hung on to this one for a month before releasing it. If you're on a budget be prepared to factor in duty as well. Less than 50 bucks but something to consider. Thanks
