An original design by esteemed sword tester and sword designer, Jason Woodard - the Boarding Axe is the third weapon and first Axe in his exclusive Doomsday Line.
Like the other close combat tactical blades in the series, this is an almost indestructible two handed Axe based on historical Boarding Axes used by 19th century sailors to chop though doors, cut through rigging and for close combat fighting, with the Axe blade opposed by a utilitarian hook that was used to clear obstacles, assist with climbing and of course, to deliver an armor piercing attack. In the unpredictable battle grounds of a Post Apocalyptic world, the same design comes alive as it pries and smashes through doors and undead hordes with equal ease - and is so versatile it can be used for all manner of survival situations.
The blade itself is made from 1095 carbon steel, which when combined with Chris's superior heat treatment process results in an EXTREMELY DURABLE and almost indestructible sword. The blade is heated to approximately 1500 degrees, until it becomes non magnetic and then quenched in brine (salt water). The 2nd step is Heat Tempering, which consists of heating the steel to 500 degrees for 2 hours, and letting it air cool. This makes for a Rockwell Hardness of approximately 57.
Unlike most other blades at this price point, Scorpion Swords are individually hand made by Chris Palmer at his workshop in Missouri. All orders are handmade their shop as orders are received. They are NOT Factory Made! High order volume makes it difficult to keep any of their weapons in stock, so please allow 8-10 weeks for completion and delivery.
