Ok. This dagger is a substantial cutter. It’s got a nice well tempered 65mn steel blade. The blade I received is not actually etched but simply color treated. No worries about resharpening the cutting edge. Blade is functional and sound and has a very unique look. All fittings except the kashira stayed tight through light cutting.
The kashira loosened significantly and will need to be retightened. I will probably make this a project blade and try to upgrade the zinc fittings and most of the grip parts. The saya is not perfect, but well done for the price. Blade fits tolerably well and is retained.
Pros: different/unique esthetic, visually striking blade art, affordable beater blade well tempered. Functional. Traditional assembly so you can work on it!
Cons: budget fittings, synthetic materials, loose kashira lacing.
For less than 100 dollars I would recommend it. If you want to customize a dagger this would be a great piece to learn on without fear of messing up a katana.
