New and Improved: a six-foot Scottish beast reborn. Massive, balanced, and battle-ready—this legendary greatsword channels 16th-century “Slaughter-Sword” power with modern upgrades. MSRP $559.00
The Lowlander returns with all the features that made it a great sword but with some improvements. Keeping with our promise for upgrades and advancement, the crisp and clean new look of the guard and pommel comes from the retooling of this classic design that will remind you of the early originals.
Wielded with untamed ferocity on many a Gaelic battlefield, the massive Lowlander sword vividly illustrates the might of the Scots of old. Known as “Slaughter-Swords” in the 16th century, these were the swords of choice for Scottish mercenaries of the period, and at close to six feet long the Lowlander faithfully replicates a surviving museum piece. Though by far the largest sword ever offered, despite its great size, CAS has created a beautifully proportioned and balanced Lowlander sword. The typical Scottish quatrefoils in the ring guards attest to the heritage of this imposing piece. The grips of the Lowlander are leather covered with an overlaid leather binding which is studded and fixed into the handle.
Introduced to the sword market in the mid-2000s, the Lowlander was the first of its kind of great sword that was made functional rather than decorative. A cornerstone of our medieval European sword offerings, the Lowlander enjoys not only its place in history but in the modern sword market.
Produced formerly at the legendary Hanwei forge that closed in 2024, the famed artisans of Dalian at the Dragon King forge take the mantle of this legendary brand. Former protégé of Paul Chen and original engineer of the manufacturing of the Hanwei brand, Frenchie Jin knows these swords better than anyone else as he was a part or their conception at the original Hanwei Metal Factory.
To help new and future customers find the correct genre of swords, CAS migrated all the HEMA and medieval European swords once branded as CAS Hanwei to underneath the Kingston Arms brand. Keeping the genre of sword under the brand with the same focus makes the most sense for the end user and consumer.
Please note: Some assembly required. Also, the Lowlander does not come with a scabbard or wall mount. Consider looking at our sword accessories for a wall mount for storage and or display.
