Runic Long Seax by Windlass Steelcrafts
Back by popular demand, this Viking seax features a long blade adorned with runic alphabet letters. The Vikings believed runes held magical powers and often inscribed them onto blades to enhance their strength and effectiveness.
The seax, a term derived from the Old English word for "knife," was a versatile weapon and tool widely used by the Vikings and other Germanic tribes during the Early Middle Ages. These single-edged knives varied in size and were carried by both warriors and civilians, serving as essential items in everyday life and combat. Seaxes were not only practical tools for cutting and carving but also symbols of social status and personal defense. Many seaxes were elaborately decorated, reflecting the artistry and craftsmanship of their makers.
This particular seax is a faithful reproduction of one on display at the British Museum. The leather-wrapped handle provides a firm grip, making this weapon surprisingly light and quick in hand. It comes with a brown leather scabbard and two back-belt hanging straps, ensuring it is both functional and stylish. Made by the expert craftsmen at Windlass Steelcrafts, this seax arrives factory sharp and ready for display or use.

I named this sword Little Beast because it is one of the best crafted and most versatile authentic Viking Age blades that I've handled.
This sword is essentially the pirate cutlass of the 9th century. It is quick, deadly, and has a barbaric psychological force to terrify hapless villagers. Unlike many Viking hacking swords, this blade is defined by quickness, and offers amazing recovery. If you don't want to swing a 3-4 pound sword around this is a great alternative.
Everything on the sword is solid, tight, and sound. The rune etching is clean and clear. Hilt and pommel are solid steel. Blade is sharpened along the single long cutting edge and has a lethal needle point. Well tempered. Grip is comfortable and fits my hand well, but in a hammer grip it's a little tight. Sheath is quality braided leather, and is tight enough to easily retain the sword.
This sword would have had many applications for a raider. It is fast and handy enough for use indoors, or in compact conditions-like a sea battle-or under, around, and over a shield wall. Using the unsharpened edge, the blade could be used to give a captive a vicious thrashing. Against untempered or poor quality mail, the needle point would have been very effective. Being shorter and clipped pointed, this sword would have also been more economical than a full length longsword.
Unlike many historical swords, this one could easily serve as a quality self defense or tactical close quarters sword.
Pros: Quality Steel, Historic Authenticity, Extreme Versatility, Speed, Excellent Point Agility, Nice Sheath. Deadly Self-Defense Capability.
Cons: Grip is a Little Small-this is purely personal-and obviously depends on the size of your hands lol.
