Amazing Value - Tough Monotempered 65mn Spring Steel Blade

The successor to the discontinued differentially hardened Hatamoto Katana, the Hatamoto II takes it all to a new level with a super tough monotempered 65MN Spring Steel blade housed in practical, best of breed fittings. This makes it a hard wearing, frequent use 'go to' budget 'beater' blade for the dojo or for fearless use in the backyard - easily capable of cutting water filled bottles, tatami mats, rolled newspaper, bamboo and other frequently used cutting targets.

The blade itself is typical Shinogi Zukuri geometry and as it is spring tempered for maximum durability, able to flex and return true after a bad cut and is very forgiving for beginners and those who are cutting heavier, more demanding targets. It is through hardened/monotempered so does not have a natural hamon, but for aesthetic reasons is acid etched with a very well executed cosmetic hamon.

These swords come with the most traditional style fittings from the Edo period when all loyal subjects to the Shogun (the Hatamoto) were expected to bear a sword with Black ito, black saya and white rayskin and regulation length blades - and as such, this Hatamoto II is a true Samurai's weapon. But the fittings are not just traditional in appearance, where most other swords at this price point only have a 1045 carbon steel blade and zinc aluminum fittings, the black sukashi tsuba and fuchigashira are made from iron for maximum build strength and feature a tight black rayon wrap over authentic rayskin for truly amazing value for money.

Long story short, these are serious, practical blades with solid fittings that are surprisingly robust and at our special discounted pricing offer, makes these some of the best value for money frequent use cutting swords around.
