Custom Katana Update

Just a quick update – the deadline for batch 32 just expired and we are now finalizing all orders with our customers and preparing to send the entire batch details to the forge to commence work by this time next week at the latest. So if you have an order in with batch 32 that was placed recently, there is not a lot of time should you wish to make any last minute changes. If this applies to you, please contact us as soon as possible so as not to hold up the production.

Batches 30 and 31 are currently in the process of sorting, inspecting and shipping. There has been a few delays and hiccups, mostly because at the last minute we relocated our team to Canada, but there are currently 3 people working through each order, checking each blade for any possible flaws, making sure the customizations are correct, and if everything is ok, re-oiling, repackaging and sending them on. So if you haven’t received your tracking number yet please be patient, we really are doing our best to get them out fast but NOT skipping any steps of the inspection process. Better to wait a few days to make sure you get the very best product possible than for us to ship a flawed or wrong sword..!

Thanks for bearing with us, more updates to follow. In the meantime, batch 33 is now open until the 7th of April with an expected delivery date of July 15th.

Certainly keeping busy..!

Custom Katana Batches 30 and 31

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update on Custom Katana Batches 30 and 31. These were both originally scheduled to start shipping to customers by the 15th of February with the caveat that they could be delayed by Chinese New Year celebrations which as many of you may already know, pretty much shut down the whole country during the month of Feb..

Both these batches managed to clear Chinese New Year and were shipped out, but there were some shipping delays caused by Chinese New Year that have pushed it behind schedule – certainly not as bad as it could have been, but the shipments have been impacted somewhat as a result.

The good news is that the latest information I have is that they are almost clear from customs and the inspecting and reshipping phase should begin next week – so please bear with us just a little longer. We don’t want to rush the inspection phase and send you a flawed product or get orders mixed up because we are rushing – so your patience is really appreciated.

Thanks so much, any further questions or concerns feel free to drop us a line.

Sincerely,

Signature

Paul Southren

Custom Katana – Batch 32 and Update

Hi Everyone!

Ok, we opened batch 32 a little behind the intended schedule – but after just confirming that batches 30 and 31 are completed and on their way from the forge, and with the forge opening in early March after Chinese New Year holidays – the timing turns out to be pretty much perfect. With few jobs in the que, batch 32 should go super smoothly and may (fingers crossed) come in earlier than the sheduled June 15 due date (though of course, we prefer that they don’t rush anything).

There are a couple of swords, all non-US orders, that are ready ship but not yet shipped from batch 29 (we are on it big time – they will all be out by Friday next week) and a couple of Aiguchi Tanto that did not make it in time from batch 30 and 31 (they will be the first thing the forge works on when they get back to work) – but otherwise, things are looking pretty good.

So for anyone who has been waiting over a 2-3 month hiatus, well – now is your chance!

Project X Katana – Now Taking Pre-Orders!

Well, actually subscribers to the Project X mailing list already know  but Project X Japanese is back, and the pre-orders have been coming in hard – so much so that we may indeed have to close off early!

There are two models available this time around – model 001, which has been offered before a couple of years ago and is the original Project X Japanese sword:

And the NEW design, project X model 003, called the Kurobuke – and is proving to be quite a popular configuration:

The main difference between these two designs – apart from the fittings – is that model 003 has a hand carved bo-hi for faster handling and audible Tachi Kaze. Otherwise, they are both Master Smith forged Shoshu Kitae blades in the best possible fittings seen outside of Japan – and at $899.99 the pre-order price may not be for everyone, but the value is off the charts.

P.S. The very LAST of the Dragon Dao scratch and dent swords is in stock in the Hot Specials section. It is a little worse for wear compared to the previous swords, so we are offering it at a further discounted price..

Considering that they are $3,000 plus for one in pristine condition, I think a few minor cosmetic flaws are worth a saving of 70% or so, don’t you..?

A couple of hot specials for the New Year

A belated Happy New Year to you all! Trust you had a great break from the day to day grind – no doubt most of you are already back at full steam..! At SBG we didn’t really take any official time off during the holiday period, though we did slow down a bit and took a little time off here and there when we could (mostly when our suppliers and shippers did!).

Anyway, might as well start the first post for 2015 with a couple of very cool – or should I say hot – specials from our friends at the Hanwei forge to kick the year off with.

The first deal is the classic Hanwei Practical Katana – a basic but very sharp and serviceable blade that has stood the test of time, and if you have never owned one before, you won’t want to miss this deal – a chance to pick it up at BELOW WHOLESALE cost from now until the 16th of January..!

And for fans of medieval swords, how about the Practical Norman sword and a FREE 9″ diameter plated buckler from GRFB? With the blunted training sword and buckler you can have some serious fun, buy three and get three sets with free shipping too!!

Both of these deals are only available until Friday the 16th of January, so get in on them quick. And while you are looking for some hot specials, you might also want to check out two recent additions to our hot specials page here – the amazing value for money DaDao Chinese Warsword and the Sinbad Scimitar by Condor Knife and Tool – both selling for a crazy $84.99 each – but don’t be fooled by the price tags. These are SERIOUS cutting blades going for an insanely low price.
