Kaneie Sword Final Liquidation Sale!

kaneie-sale

This truly is an amazing opportunity to Save hundreds of dollars and get your hands on a Kaneie Sword at unheard of prices for the last time…

Kaneie Sword is based out of Shanghai and specializes in high quality Katana made using imported Japanese fittings. The fit and finish on these swords is some of the best the industry has ever seen, and just today the main importer – Cas Iberia – ran into a major roadblock with the forge and decided not to carry them anymore. As they have been extremely hard to source until Cas Iberia started carrying them, this may well be your last chance to get them – and they are being sold at a price that they have never been offered at before…

Stock is strictly limited, so get what you can while you can..!

Project X – Cleared Customs and Arriving Soon!

While it is a bit behind schedule – the good news is that Project X Japanese has cleared customs and is now on the way from LA to Texas..!

It will still be another week or two before they come in, the pre-orders are inspected and shipped out to their patient (and rather lucky) new owners..

And a around a month before these awesome, Mastersmith forged blades are briefly available to the general sword buying public. But anyone who owns one will attest that they are worth the wait. Indeed, you may well need to wait a year or more for another chance (if you check the Project X page and scroll down to the timeline on the main site, you will see the last time they were offered was – Jan 2013, 2 and 1/2 years ago!).

In the meantime, another first time sneak preview – matching Wakizashi!!

Close up of the blade. Note the Boshi and lamination lines.

Close up of the blade. Note the Boshi and lamination lines.

These will be a STRICTLY LIMITED quantity as the cost of making a Wakizashi is about the same as making a full length Katana! (this is normal, which is why there are so few Wakizashi on the market – the amount of materials and labour is almost identical!).

Your only chance to be notified of these will be to sign up to the Project X mailing list if you haven’t already!

Will update you all again soon, but the early bird gets the worm – so if you haven’t already, sign up now to stay in the loop..!

Responsive design finally up!

Phew!!

We have been working on the new responsive design since May – but now it is finally complete. And you may also notice, the blog has also been transformed (though the blog still has a bit of tidying up to be done, but we will get to that).

Now that all the heavy lifting has been done, we will continue to refine everything – and take a new and very exciting direction with the store blog now that it (almost) looks the part.

So be sure to check back frequently!

Naturally, the security of the store was and remains secure and paramount throughout the upgrade.

So hope you like the new responsive facelift..!

Update you all again soon.

Cheness Summer Shutdown Schedule

blog-header-cheness

Just a quick note that the Cheness Cutlery warehouse will be closed from the 31st of July to the 8th of September 2015 as they will be visiting suppliers and service providers in Asia.

During this period there will be no shipping of any Cheness Cutlery products, so we STRONGLY suggest that if you have your eye on a particular sword of theirs you order now to avoid disappointment.

The last day to order before the shutdown is midnight the 29th of July, 2015, Eastern US time..

Custom Katana Update

Hi Everyone, update time – and we do have quite a bit of news to get through..

First off, a quick look at the current delivery schedule for batches 32 and 33 shows we have a bit of a bottleneck occuring due to some issues earlier on sourcing the tsuba and fuchi kashira sets. While the blades are well and truly finished, the difficulty sourcing all the necessary components threw a spanner into the works for timely delivery..

To make matters worse, communication with the forge right now is hampered because my primary contact there and good friend since this whole project began some 7-8 years ago recently ended up in the hospital for an extended stay following heart valve surgery (the poor guy is only in his mid twenties too, though it is a genetic condition – so best it is dealt with when he is young and fit).

Anyway, these two factors combined have slowed down the shipments and made it very hard to determine where everything is up to when customers (understandably) request updates..

As such, please bear with us while we get everything back on track. It will take a while until my contact is out of the hospital, so for a week or two we may be “going blind”. During this time we will only know when a shipment is coming in, and will only know what is in it when we physically open and inspect it.

My apologies for these unexpected delays.

In truth batch 32 is only around 3 weeks behind schedule, and batch 33 is not actually quite yet due. And our two man team of inspection and shipping agents are standing by to spring into action as soon as the first shipments come in, so hopefully the delays will not be too much longer.

But as we have a lot to sort through and cannot provide much information during this period, we hope for your understanding and assure you we are doing our best to minimize the delay as much as humanly possible (I suppose it is not that bad, custom orders of any kind often run behind schedule, and in the sword industry delays of months to years are not at all unheard of, so in the grand scheme of things we are still doing ok. But we feel the pressure acutely and really do push hard to make sure you guys get what you paid for as soon as possible while minimizing mix ups and delays as much as we possibly can)..

Because of these delays, the current batch that is open for orders will be the last one until we have caught up on the backlog and are back on track again with all batches coming in smoothly again.

So please rest assured, we are doing our best and will continue to provide updates as best as we can until things are running smoothly again.

Thanks for your understanding. Will update you all again shortly (phew)…
