The most recent swords from Project X have all been completed and are currently being carefully packed and prepared for an airfreight shipment from the forge. It should be another couple of weeks before they arrive, clear customs and are inspected and shipped out to customers who were lucky enough to secure a pre-order, then once everyone is happy we will list each of these stunning swords for sale direct from stock – though as the amount of swords we have is extremely limited, you had best sign up to the Project X newsletter to be notified if you have not pre-ordered and want to secure one for yourself.

Forge Direct 2.0 was officially launched on the 4th of May, and in many ways while it was sad to see the old smiths stop taking new orders last month, what has come out of the ashes as it were is potentially even more exciting to even more people than ever before..

I posted about the new swords in a post on the 31st of March appropriately entitled “the Future of Forge Direct” but to make a long story short, this vision became a reality on the 4th of May, with all the sneak previewed swords I mentioned in that post now available to order, and some new ones, including some rather big surprises..

In addition to the 4 traditional, heirloom quality Chinese swords, we added two Japanese style blades to the mix – the first one, a stunning Nara period Tachi..

And the second, our most elite custom katana to date, the Forge Direct Elite Choji Midare Hamon Custom Katana

This Katana has the most customizations of ANY custom sword we have ever offered at SBG and the nicest blade.. And what is even better, the price – we squeezed our margin to an insanely low level for this introductory offer and this time the smiths do not mind as they understand our “deliver maximum value possible” philosophy..

It has been over a year since we added a new product to the Project X line up – but not only have we just opened up new pre-orders for Project X – but we are pleased to bring you 3 brand new designs..!

The first of these three is model #004 – The Gunto, which is based on a type 98 Shin Gunto. This Master Smith forged Soshu Kitae blade evokes the rare and greatly treasured antique blades that were remounted for use by officers of the Japanese Imperial Army. The Gunto features historically accurate fittings up to and including the tassel which signifies rank and the steel lined, wood core saya.

The second was made by popular demand, model #005 – The O-Katana with 33″ inches of Soshu Kitae goodness and a 12″ handle.  With a bo-hi to lighten the load and create a terrifyingly loud Tachi Kaze, this is a whole lot of sword for just an additional $100. Size does matter, look no further than this intimidating all black themed giant of a sword for confirmation..

And the third, is model #006 – the Dragon which is based on the most popular Katana theme there is, the Eastern Dragon. The work hardened copper and gold plated fittings are a detailed copy of an actual antique and are powerful enough in their own right that the rest of the swords theme is subdued and traditional. Easily the centerpiece of any quality collection.
