Furia Sword of the Apocalypse – Final Run of 10..

furia-fb-cover-photoIt has been quite a few months since our first run of 10 Furia swords by John Lundemo from Longship Armory – and with Halloween looming large next month, and the general fairly long time frame required to make them, there seems no better time than now to start taking commissions on the final round of 10 swords..

The whole process of making them is quite intensive – and the swords are made and heat treated entirely in the USA to Johns extremely high standards. Plus, everyone who orders also gets an original concept art full color poster designed for us by Warren Louw from DC Comics and Udon Entertainment fame.

At $1,949.99 with full payment required up front and expected delivery in May 2017 – the Furia Project is not for everyone.. But considering that there will only ever be 20pcs of this sword ever made, it is a TRUE limited edition design and made from cryo-tempered S7 shock steel (expertly tempered using the latest technology) with every part a true original – this super fast and almost indestructible blade is a sword lovers dream come true and for those of you who can get in on it, you will most definitely not regret it!

“Science Meets Tradition!”

 

This may well be one of the most revolutionary swords ever made..

A bold statement, but the Muramasa Katana by Forge Direct is truly quite unique.

Here is why:

The hamon, while real, is created through metal extraction and not clay. It’s achieved by grinding through the jacket layer of 1065 steel until the middle layer of T-10 is reached. The color of the steel is the natural unpolished look of the steel.

The five layer composition from side to side is: 1065, T-10, 1045, T-10, 1065.

Because the steel is placed in layers and welded together, they blend differently down both sides of the blade. The entire blade is then given a polish before the extraction on the edge. The reveal of the lamination is going to be different every single time, as the blend of the steels is never going to be the same, resulting in unique waves and patterns.

The process provides an edge hardness of 62-64, a spine in the mid 40’s, and a medium carbon core that is very good at diffusing shock.

The goal was to find a way to get the harder edge of a differentially hardened blade, but with the resilience of being through hardened.

The overall theme and design of this sword may be a little sinister (after all, Muramasa was an infamous sword smith with a very dark reputation – a reputation shared by his blades) and may not appeal to everyone, but to those of you who is “speaks” to, you are in for a real treat…

As with all the swords in the Forge Direct line up, the sword is made to order and ships within 4-6 weeks. At $700 (with free shipping in North America) it may not be the cheapest sword on the market, but for such a revolutionary design, it is actually quite a bargain (following industry standard pricing forumlas, it should sell for a LOT more)..

For example, how about the very last Project X Shoshu Kitae Model #006 Dragon Katana – not only is it the very last one for 2016, but a few minor scuffs on the blade see it discounted by $200..

Or how about another Soshu Kitae blade in Shirasaya – not $574.99 but less than half that price due to a customer returning it without oiling the sword so that it developed a patina of rust.. We cleaned off the rust, but there are still a few marks here and there. But for the price of a beater Katana, it is a bargain hunters delight..

And then there are the last of the SBG Black Dragon Forge swords – heavily discounted because we were not 100% happy with the fit of the tsukas, so permanently attached them – making them super durable, but discounted because you cannot take them apart like a traditional Katana (a move that I have often recommended for entry level cutting blades – it is pretty much impossible to achieve a perfect fit on a sword anywhere near this kind of price point, the cost of a traditional tsuka core is actually several times the cost of these swords!).

And so on it goes, but not for long.. Astute bargain hunters will realize what is on the table here, so grab what you can while it is still available!
