Batch Change – 37 closed, 38 opened

Just a very quick post – batch 37 has now officially closed and batch 38 just opened.

Right now we are cross checking each order and allowing the most recently submitted orders until Sunday night to make any modifications to their order before we lock them up and send them through to the forge to begin work.

The expected delivery of batch 37 is June 17th and the most recently opened batch, which will run until the 17th of April, is scheduled to arrive on the 17th of July.

Will keep you all updated as we go so talk to you again soon..!

Custom Katana – Taking Orders Again After an 8 month Hiatus!

It has been at least 8 months since we last took a custom katana order. Last year we had a series of unexpected setbacks, from a delay caused by changing a component supplier, changing our shipping team from the USA to Manitoba, and then a delay of an additional 2-3 months when our main contact at the forge had a heart valve replacement surgery (and then of course, Chinese New Year celebration when the forge shuts down for the better part of Feb)..

But since the 17th of February we are FINALLY caught up and in the clear, and the forge is finally ready and waiting for new orders – so after months and months of pausing all new orders – we are back in the fray again and accepting new custom katana orders for batch 37 until the 17th of March!

So for anyone who has been waiting, well – now is your chance..!

Custom Katana Update…

What a long, hard road it has been – but finally some light at the end of the tunnel..

Batches 34 is basically shipped except for a handful of swords that we are tracking down now and batch 35 was recently completed, leaving only batch 36 which was originally supposed to come in October 15th but due to the running delays at the forge starting from batch 32 onwards, are about 2 months behind like everything else..

The good news is that under normal circumstances we would be nearly in a position to start taking new orders again, but with the forges Chinese New Year shutdown looming for February, it would almost certainly run into yet ANOTHER delay, which would not be a good start for a relaunch..

So even though it will mean a period of 8 months where no new orders will be taken, we think it is best to clear the slate, take a rest – and start anew, taking orders for batch 37 in February while the forge is closed down for the New Year celebrations..

Apologies to everyone either waiting on an order or waiting for us to re-open new commissions, we really have done our best and it is the nature of any custom made product that at times there will be unavoidable delays. Even though the amount of work, stress and cost involved is quite phenomenal – I take pride in knowing we are providing a unique service with an unheard of level of quality at this price point and feel that we owe it to the community not to give up – as tempting at times as it may be..

Will update you all again soon, in the meantime for the latest batch information please check the custom katana batch status page here

Custom Katana – slowly getting back on track…

While we aren’t caught up yet – and I am nearly bald from tearing out my hair with frustration the past few months, the good news is that batch 32 is now down to a single sword shipped out, batch 33 is around 50% out the door and we can soon concentrate on shipping and inspecting batches 34 and 35, many of which have arrived, but the team has been a bit overwhelmed trying to get everything else out the door..

So please bear with us everyone, we are doing our very best to balance the need to get them out fast with (in my opinion) the more important requirement that each one is carefully inspected, packed and shipped to the rightful owner without any errors.

Custom Katana Backlog…

Just a quick update – I sent an email to everyone in batches 32 and 33 which are currently running from 3 to 2 months behind schedule as explained previously due to unexpected health issues of our primary contact at the forge.. The good news is that all these swords are in, but the bad news is that it will still take some time to ship them all out and the backlog is still ongoing, flowing now into batches 34 and 35, which I am trying to coordinate at the same time..

We really are working around the clock to get everything back on track, so please bear with us.. We are still not taking new orders, and I will soon be emailing everyone who has orders in with some updates..

Thanks so much for your patience. In the meantime, you can get some idea of where we are up to here on the SBG Custom Katana batch status timeline..
