New from Scorpion Swords: Sword of Feyd-Rautha from Dune 2

With blade and hilt construction already so close to what Chris Palmer at Scorpion sword does best, it was no surprise that they excelled at making very affordable, fully functional replicas inspired by the first installment of the Dune Franchise on the big screen..

To date, they created two swords from the House Atreides from that first movie – the Atreides Short Sword and the Atreides II – both pictured below respectively.

So it’s a lot of fun to announce that their third sword is one based on one of the Dune Franchises most iconic villains, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen – and will soon have a companion dagger joining it so that fans of Franchise can own their own functional set inspired by the blades from Dune 2:

THE INSPIRATION

So without any further ado, here it is – a fierce replica of Feyd’s right had blade made from expertly tempered 1095 carbon steel with a full tang sandwich hilt for well under $300.

THE REPLICA

With an ergonomic handle more or less fused to the blade using primary and secondary steel pins along with epoxy resin glue, the forward momentum blade is a fitting tribute to the super villain of the story and is a must have piece for fans of the Franchise and good quality, affordable swords in general.

Two New Scorpion Swords Models

Over the years, Missouri based budget friendly blade maker Chris Palmer has continued to expand his rage of available sword models – and today we see another 2 blades join the line up, bringing the total number of available swords and large knives in his repertoire to 34 different models.

The first new addition to his blade family is a short but deadly replica of a Roman Legionaries Gladius that packs one heck of a punch..

As is often the case with modern replicas, if the Romans actually had a sword made from this quality steel and tempered like Scorpion Swords do, their Empire might have expanded even quicker than it did – as this modern recreation would literally chew up and destroy any contemporary sword that dared to stand against it..

As always, it is a quite the bargain at just $249.99..

And the next one is a the SECOND variation of a VERY utilitarian blade design, the Dark Filipino Ginunting (click here for the original version).

The name itself effectively translates to ‘Scissor blade’ as they are reminiscent of one half of a pair of particularly savage looking scissors, and as you might suspect, they are optimized for deadly shearing cuts and quick, deep flicking hacks. So much so that these blades are a principal sidearm of the Filipino Marine Corp, making them the only military in the world widely that still arms itself with swords (and boy, do they know how to actually USE them!)..

And again, it is bargain priced at just $259.99..

Three One off ‘scratch and dent’ items from Scorpion Swords

With the sword industry far to quiet and experiencing an increasingly difficult and essentially unsustainable sales situation, in the downtime our friend Chris Palmer from Scorpion Swords took a little time to gather together a handful of swords that they had lying around the workshop for one reason or another and create a limited ‘scratch and dent’ sale promotion (though as you will see, there is not really anything scratched or dented about them)..

The first one is the last of series, a Fantasy Celtic Sword that was designed as part of the now defunct ‘Legendary Swords’ Project.

This one comes complete with a leather sheathe, solid brass fittings and a wickedly pointed triangular gladius style blade and was sold back in the day for $338.99 but is available as part of the sale for just $269.99 (and is the very last one that will ever be made, as the project, and this sword – has been wound up quite some time ago).

The second one came about as a misinterpretation of a customers custom order specification. They asked for a ‘reverse blade’ version of the Thai Daab – and while cool (almost like a kukri), it was not actually what the customer meant – so Chris remade it for the customer and now the unique reverse blade version is on sale as part of the scratch and dent sale for just $199.99 (normally $259.99).

And finally, Chris can’t actually remember why he has one, but only that he does have one in stock – and that is the meaty cleaver like blade that is the sword of Hakai.

Normally $249.99, it is available ex-stock for just $199.99 (and along with the Thai Daab, both can also be ordered with a leather sheathe – though this will delay shipping if selected as an option as it will need to be custom made).
